Bob and Deidre, Plane Sailing- Admiral 38'

Six years ago, after much deliberation, we decided to purchase an Admiral 38 Executive catamaran. The main reasons for our choice of vessel being the self-confidence and congeniality of David Bird and his manager Craig, who proudly showed us around their immaculate factory. Over the months we watched our catamaran transform from drums of glass fibre resin into a splendid complex artistry of hull deck and bulkhead to the completed product.

After several months, on schedule, the momentous launching day finally arrived and amidst much excitement Plane Sailing was born! We were filled with mixed emotions; sorrow to be leaving our daughters but filled with fervour to begin our adventure to sail the high seas. With no previous sailing experience we sailed away from Cape Town harbour speculating whether we would ever see anything as stunning as Table Mountain, as she majestically faded into the distance.

Twelve exhausting days later we couldn?t believe we actually had arrived at St Helena as she appeared rising starkly out of the ocean, a gargantuan, austere island of volcanic rock. We were ecstatic to phone friends and family!
